This vintage 1940s nightgown was completely hand-stitched and custom made for her original owner's wedding trousseau. Made of rich silk charmeuse in a warm shade of ivory that has a high luster and quality weight. Intricate hand-applied floral appliques atop of stunning spiderweb crochet lace across the bodice and scalloped hem, with French knots at the ruffled sleeves leaving no part of this gown untouched. Slinky in fit with a tailored derriere and sewn in ties to cinch the waist and an ankle-length hem. This slip dress is highly dramatic and incredibly feminine.
Closely resembles designs made by Chinese couturiere Jean Lindsay.

A Note on Buying Vintage
A Note on Buying Vintage
This is an antique or early vintage garment made from delicate materials such as silk, fine cotton, lace, or early synthetics. These textiles may display signs consistent with age, which includes:
• natural fiber fatigue
• gentle thinning at stress points
• subtle irregularities inherent to early manufacturing
• age-related softness or patina
These qualities are authentic to historic garments and are considered part of their character, not defects, unless otherwise stated.
Notable flaws, such as excessive wear, stains, holes, or rips will always be photographed and disclosed in the condition notes.
