This vintage 1940s nightgown was made from a silky bone white 'cold' rayon material with a gorgeous icy blue cotton lace insert that frames the deep V cut neckline. Bias cut with a darling velvet bow that reaches well below the waist. A fitted waist panel flatters the figure, with a complementary blue lace insert that extends down the center skirt. This stunner falls just above the ankle with a ruffled cotton hem and split center that offers a gorgeous allure. A very unique gown that reminds me of a vintage Spanish countryside.

Label: None

Era: 1940s

Material: Rayon, cotton lace

Color: White, ice blue

Size: Small, medium (please see measurements)

Condition: Hand washed and steamed. A few tiny pin sized holes and one frayed spot on the upper back. Some incredibly faint foxing on the lower right area of the skirt that is barely visible. One seam repair at the gore that isn't noticeable but there are a few tiny 'bubbles' where the fabric gathers a bit.

Measurements:

• Taken seam to seam laying flat, relaxed, then doubled

• Maximum stretch given for comfort without applying stress to seams

Bust: 34-36”

Waist: 27-30"

Hips: up to 44"

Length: 56” from shoulder to hem

Fit Notes: Bias cut allows this gown to accommodate a variety of sizes. Gathered fabric under the bust provides subtle lift and support.  Gown is loose around the hip and waist panel shapes the waist to accentuate curves.

A Note on Buying Vintage

This is an antique or early vintage garment made from delicate materials such as silk, fine cotton, lace, or early synthetics. These textiles may display signs consistent with age, which includes:

• natural fiber fatigue
• gentle thinning at stress points
• subtle irregularities inherent to early manufacturing
• age-related softness or patina

These qualities are authentic to historic garments and are considered part of their character, not defects, unless otherwise stated.

Notable flaws, such as excessive wear, stains, holes, or rips will always be photographed and disclosed in the condition notes.
