Vintage 1940's - 1950's Overwire Bra - Black Lace with Nude Illusion & Plush Velvet Lining by Cadolle, Paris | 34 B

This vintage late 1940's to early 1950s bra by the lingerie legend, Cadolle of Paris, France. A gorgeous floral black lace overlay upon a nude layer gives the 'nude illusion' which was popular during the era. A perfectly rounded overwire lined in plush black velvet gives a darling sweetheart allure, with a hidden elastic band at the underbust to aid in comfortability. Vertical stitching offers a very subtle conical shape to the bust, with a shadow floral mesh band that closes at the back with eye-hooks. Thin ribbon straps with elastic allow for some adjustment to the wearer. This is a highly collectible relic. 

Note: Cadolle was started in Argentina, 1878 by Herminie Cadolle when she fled from France due to political unrest. After experiencing great success, she returned to Paris in 1889 and opened her design shop in the prestigious district of Rue Cambon. Cadolle is recognized for inventing the modern bra as well as for being the first to use rubber in lingerie for adjustment and comfort. Cadolle continues to operate and is just as cherished as they ever were.

Condition: hand washed and gently steamed. Rubber is very taut and stretchy. No holes, stains, or rips. Some flattening of the velvet pile and very minor signs of wear.
