Vintage 1940s to early 1950s Japanese kimono robe made from a cobalt blue rayon material that has a gorgeous drape that flatters the figure. An elaborate floral scene with covers both the front and back as well as the long kimono sleeves. An accompanying sash tie cinches the waist to your liking but the robe looks stunning when worn open as well. Fully lined in a bone white rayon fabric.

CONDITION

Good: Hand washed and steamed with no holes or rips. There is an overall patina to the blue, as well as blue tint over the white print and lining from color bleeding that I was unable to lift. It is not very noticeable on the outer layer, however is on the lining (worst is along the collar). A fade line around the bottom from where the robe was hemmed and then released. There is a pale splatter mark on the lower inner layer as well. While it shows its age, it still presents beautifully.

A Note on Buying Vintage

This is an antique or early vintage garment made from delicate materials such as silk, fine cotton, lace, or early synthetics. These textiles may display signs consistent with age, which includes:

• natural fiber fatigue
• gentle thinning at stress points
• subtle irregularities inherent to early manufacturing
• age-related softness or patina

These qualities are authentic to historic garments and are considered part of their character, not defects, unless otherwise stated.

Notable flaws, such as excessive wear, stains, holes, or rips will always be photographed and disclosed in the condition notes.
