Vintage 1930's Robe | Rich Mulberry Purple Velveteen Matching Belt & Trapunto Stitching | Size M, LG | Bonwitt Teller
This vintage 1930s robe by the legendary Bonwit Teller was made of a nice medium weight mulberry purple velveteen fabric. Bias cut with sleeves that were detailed with a delightful puffed shoulder. Gorgeous trapunto embroidery adorns the collar, sleeve cuffs, and pockets with large fabric coated buttons that close the robe down the center. This beautiful robe is fitted to flatter, with a slim waist, hip, and skirt. Robe also comes with a matching adjustable belt to accentuate the waist. A long floor-length hem, with an elegant train in the back that allows the eyes to be drawn at all angles. Absolutely darling, could very well be worn (could have even had been intended to be worn) as a jacket or coat.
Very good - There are mends to the top button, left underarm, back of the neck, center waist where it connects to the skirt, and directly above the hem in the back. Most are truly unnoticeable, with the most visible being the back of the neck (in my opinion). There is a dark 'splatter' (as pictured) that isn't much darker than the fabric, and a few spots with yellowing on the back of the skirt (as pictured). None of which distract from the beauty of this robe!
