These vintage 1930s tap pants by Marshall Fields & Co. were completely stitched by hand, made from an icy aqua blue silk satin material. These little knickers rise high to the natural waist, with a bias cut that flatters the figure nicely. Sweetly subtle embroidery adorns both sides right above the delicate lace edged leg openings. A very special pair, with a rare metal zipper that closes up the side.

Label: Marshall Fields & Co.

Era: 1930s

Material: Silk satin, cotton lace

Color: Icy aqua blue (bluish-green) ivory

Size: Medium (please see measurements)

Condition: Hand washed and pressed. Two little holes near the zipper from estate sale tag and a small bit of foxing near the left leg embroidery.

Measurements:

• Taken seam to seam laying flat, relaxed, then doubled

• Maximum stretch given for comfort without applying stress to seams

Waist: 29"

Hips: up to 43"

Length: 14” sides

Length: 17" waist to center gusset

Fit Notes: Bias cut and silk material accommodate a variety of sizes in the hip region. Rise to natural waist, fluttery in the seat and leg openings so not constricting. This pair may be a bit 'cheeky' when worn.

A Note on Buying Vintage

This is an antique or early vintage garment made from delicate materials such as silk, fine cotton, lace, or early synthetics. These textiles may display signs consistent with age, which includes:

• natural fiber fatigue
• gentle thinning at stress points
• subtle irregularities inherent to early manufacturing
• age-related softness or patina

These qualities are authentic to historic garments and are considered part of their character, not defects, unless otherwise stated.

Notable flaws, such as excessive wear, stains, holes, or rips will always be photographed and disclosed in the condition notes.
