Vintage late 1930s to early 1940s hooded opera coat (that I am calling a robe) made from a silky rose red rayon velvet. Padded puffed shoulders give the classic darted shoulders of the era, with tapered long sleeves falling to the wrist. Gathered fabric at the waist creates gorgeous folds throughout the bodice and skirt. Hook closure at the waist with an attached sash tie. This coat is lined with a silky red taffeta with an insulation lining in the middle. A true gem.
NOTE: This coat has a National Recovery Board label. The National Recovery Board label was used to ensure that consumers knew that the workers who made the garment were not working excessive hours and were being paid fairly. This label is used from 1936 until 1972.

CONDITION
Good: There is a golden patina throughout, primarily toward the hem creating a slight ombre effect. It adds to the piece in my opinion. A blackish tint toward the top that I am unsure if it is just part of the hue or not. There are several marks and scratches to the velvet and some small holes as pictured. A few marks and small holes on the lining. The sash is corded, but approximately 4 inches of the 'cord' is missing at the tip of one of the ends; could easily be shortened if it bothers you. Structurally sound and fully wearable. I have not cleaned this garment. All flaws are pictured.
