This antique 1920s piano shawl, also known as Mantón de Manila, was made from a light ivory silk with stunning raised silk threaded embroidery throughout its entirety. This iconic style features plentiful vines with large blush pink roses, little violets, and pansies in bold shades of pink, purple, yellow, and green. Can be worn in reverse, as the underside mimics the top with the exception of the roses being two-toned red and pink. Framed in intricate macrame with 18 inch fringe which adds extra length to this gem. These highly cherished relics make for excellent coverings over lingerie or outerwear, while being versatile enough to use as home decor as well.

A Note on Buying Vintage

This is an antique or early vintage garment made from delicate materials such as silk, fine cotton, lace, or early synthetics. These textiles may display signs consistent with age, which includes:

• natural fiber fatigue
• gentle thinning at stress points
• subtle irregularities inherent to early manufacturing
• age-related softness or patina

These qualities are authentic to historic garments and are considered part of their character, not defects, unless otherwise stated.

Notable flaws, such as excessive wear, stains, holes, or rips will always be photographed and disclosed in the condition notes.
