This antique 1920s Canton de Manila shawl (also known as a piano shawl) was made from a very pale creamy green silk with a decadent sheen that plays lovingly with light and shadows. Beautifully done raised floral embroidery adorns its entirety, stitched with variations of green silk threading. This piece creates an incredible awe factor thanks to its very long mint green fringe that frames the edges. A very unique color palate for a classic 1920s relic. Perfect for wear or display.
Label: None
Era: 1920s
Material: Silk
Color: Very pale green-cream, variations of green ranging from mint to light teal.
Size: 48x48 silk body, 84x84 with fringe
Condition: hand washed and steamed. Some light water marks from steam and 2 small spots of foxing. There is a repair on one corner that I did not redo out of a risk of causing damage due to the delicate silk. It is not terribly distracting. Some fraying at the tips of fringe and some fringe is shorter/missing on one tassel.

A Note on Buying Vintage
A Note on Buying Vintage
This is an antique or early vintage garment made from delicate materials such as silk, fine cotton, lace, or early synthetics. These textiles may display signs consistent with age, which includes:
• natural fiber fatigue
• gentle thinning at stress points
• subtle irregularities inherent to early manufacturing
• age-related softness or patina
These qualities are authentic to historic garments and are considered part of their character, not defects, unless otherwise stated.
Notable flaws, such as excessive wear, stains, holes, or rips will always be photographed and disclosed in the condition notes.
