This incredible antique 1920s bridal gown was made by Lyman's of Rochester Minnesota, likely custom for the bride. Made from a rich ivory silk satin material with a fluid drape that moves with the wearer. Sleek through the upper hip with a fitted waist that hides under a loose blouson bodice. This beauty is fully lined with cotton tulle, with vented lace sleeves that peek below wide fluttery tambour embroidered tulle. A wide complementary embroidered neckline and tiered ruffled ankle length hem pulls the gown together. The back of this special gown is a sight to see in itself, with a dramatic drape lined with faux buttons that stops directly above the derriere. A large bow giving the illusion of a wrapped effect hovers over the rear. Both the lining and silk outer layer close with hidden eye hooks. An absolute marvel of a gown that was artfully crafted with texture and detail in mind.
Label: Lyman's, Rochester Minn.
Era: 1920s
Material: Silk satin, cotton tulle
Color: Ivory, warm nude
Size: M (please see measurements)
Condition: Amazing condition for age. Gown has been cleaned and carefully steamed. No holes in silk or tulle, both layers of fabric retain full integrity making this perfectly suitable for wear. Gown does have a patina from age with some darkening around buttons on the back. There is a bit of foxing on the center bodice and faint underarm staining that truly is not distracting; I attempted to remove these marks with a delicate backing soda mixture which unfortunately caused some slight bleaching but did not lift the stain (most noticeable in angled view photos). One tiny bit of fraying near underarm seam, again my fault, from being too aggressive when attempting to remove underarm staining with soft bristled brush.

A Note on Buying Vintage
A Note on Buying Vintage
This is an antique or early vintage garment made from delicate materials such as silk, fine cotton, lace, or early synthetics. These textiles may display signs consistent with age, which includes:
• natural fiber fatigue
• gentle thinning at stress points
• subtle irregularities inherent to early manufacturing
• age-related softness or patina
These qualities are authentic to historic garments and are considered part of their character, not defects, unless otherwise stated.
Notable flaws, such as excessive wear, stains, holes, or rips will always be photographed and disclosed in the condition notes.
