Antique 1910's Edwardian Japanese Kimono Robe | Olive Green Tissue Silk with Floral Hand Embroidery & Fringe Sash Tie | Size Free
Rare antique 1900-1910's Edwardian Japanese kimono robe made of rich olive green tissue light silk, completely hand-stitched. Hand embroidered multi-colored flowers trail its entirety, with two swallows swooping at the lower back. Long traditional sleeves with a cushioned hem, made to fit over a bustled dress with two gores sewn in at the sides to provide width to the skirt. A wide sash tie with fringed tassels at the ends provides closure to the robe at the waist. A truly historical piece, perfect for the collector. Can be displayed or worn with great care.
Very good: There is a great deal of discoloration on both the robe and sash where the green shows a gold patina. Several holes, primarily in the lining and wear at the hem. There appears to be some fusing work in two areas of the lining. The nape of the neck was folded over and sewn. This robe has not been washed. There are many places with obvious hand sewing but I am not sure if these are original or mends.
