This vintage 1930s nightgown was made in France from a rich blush pink pebbled silk crepe material in a high quality medium weight. This gown features gorgeous white cotton lace appliqués and hand stitched smocking at the shoulders and waist which adds texture and offers shaping effects. A loose fit with very a blousy bodice, cinching at the waist with long attached ties. Very wide long bishop sleeves that close at the wrists with iridescent glass buttons create a dramatic allure for the wearer. This gown falls just above the ankle. A truly special one of a kind piece with a makers signature hidden in the seam.

Label: No label, signature in the seam is mostly ineligible.

Era: 1930s

Material: Silk crepe (soie printed at seam, translates to silk) cotton lace

Color: Blush pink, white

Size: Small-XLG (please see measurements)

Condition: hand washed at pressed, in overall great condition and is structurally sound for wear as the fabric is quite heavy. A few pin sized holes with two invisible mends created with seam fabric and fusing powder at the underside. There is some darker pink discoloration on the back of one sleeve and lower back of the skirt which hide well in the folds when the waist ties are used. Some of the smocking has relaxed a bit but stitches are secure.

A Note on Buying Vintage

This is an antique or early vintage garment made from delicate materials such as silk, fine cotton, lace, or early synthetics. These textiles may display signs consistent with age, which includes:

• natural fiber fatigue
• gentle thinning at stress points
• subtle irregularities inherent to early manufacturing
• age-related softness or patina

These qualities are authentic to historic garments and are considered part of their character, not defects, unless otherwise stated.

Notable flaws, such as excessive wear, stains, holes, or rips will always be photographed and disclosed in the condition notes.
