This late 1910s to early 1920s evening gown was made from a rich mocha brown silk material with a gorgeous gold metallic floral lace bertha collar that frames the neckline. An Empire Revival gown featuring a belted empire waist adorned with large orange velvet flowers at the center waist and lower right side of the hem. A rigid cotton waist tape with stays assures for a structured and supported fit, with a slim and sleek skirt that falls a few inches above the ankle. The low back creates an ethereal allure, with tulle lining under the bodice and hidden snap closure at the center back. An excellent collector's piece for Art Nouveau enthusiasts.

Label: None
Era: 1910s - 1920s
Material: Silk, metallic lace
Color: Brown, gold, orange
Best fits modern size: XS (please see measurements)

Condition: Structurally sound and in amazing wearable condition for its age. There was a tulle overlay over the skirt that was removed; there may be fragments that were missed along seams. A slight patina where the brown fades to a goldish color, most prominent in the back and underarms. One spot where there is some wear on the outer layer of the silk near the underarm; not very noticeable. Presents beautifully!

Measurements (taken flat, relaxed, and doubled):

Bust: 32.5”
Waist: 26"
Hips: 42
Length: 48” from shoulder to hem

Fit Notes: No stretch to material, fitted at the waist. Best for a petite frame. Skirt drapes over the hip. Should be worn with care due to age.

A Note on Buying Vintage

This is an antique or early vintage garment made from delicate materials such as silk, fine cotton, lace, or early synthetics. These textiles may display signs consistent with age, which includes:

• natural fiber fatigue
• gentle thinning at stress points
• subtle irregularities inherent to early manufacturing
• age-related softness or patina

These qualities are authentic to historic garments and are considered part of their character, not defects, unless otherwise stated.

Notable flaws, such as excessive wear, stains, holes, or rips will always be photographed and disclosed in the condition notes.
