This vintage late 1960s to early 1970s duster jacket or robe was made from a light weight velour fabric with an incredible jewel tone Persian boteh pattern that is so intricately detailed that you would need a magnifying glass to truly see all its depth. Very much so inspired by the late 1910s/early 20s bohemian style with a cocoon like drape and wide sleeves, which was an iconic design from those eras. An open fit with a heavy metal Art Nouveau clasp that closes this piece at the waist, and a a beautiful hemline that is shorter in the front and drops inches lower at the center back. A definite one of a kind piece that pairs beautifully with a vast variety of eras and personal styles.
Label: None
Era: 1960s-70s
Material: Velour, lining is very thin, soft, and lightweight. Assuming a blend but am not confident enough in possibilities to declare specifics.
Color: Deep indigo blue, multi-jewel tone
Size: Small, medium, large (please see measurements)
Condition: Structurally sound with no stains, holes or rips. One spot lower side around knee area where there is what feels like a hardened adhesive.
Measurements:
• Taken seam to seam laying flat, relaxed, then doubled
Sleeve Length: 21"
Bust: up to 40”
Waist: open
Upper Hip (where robe clasps shut): up to 40"
Length: 41” center front
Length: 51" center back
Fit Notes: Dropped shoulder accommodates a variety of sizes. This piece mimics the 1920s cocoon silhouette where it tapers toward the hem. Gathered fabric at the clasp forces a slightly nipped waist that allows this piece to accentuate the body's natural curves. Robe is smooth in appearance from the back side.
