This stunning 1940s dressing gown was made of decadent royal purple silk velvet. With a gorgeous open bodice cut on the bias with a loose, lapel collar and ruched shoulders giving gorgeous texture and depth to the velvet. With long bishop sleeves closing at the cuff with velvet buttons, and slightly puffed shoulders due to the gathered fabric. This robe closes at the waist with eye-hook closure and sewn in ties that look stunning when tied in the front or the back. A long flowing skirt falling to the ankle, with an ever flattering backside, smooth and sleek, with gathered fabric at the derriere. This rare beauty can easily be worn outside of the home as a light duster jacket and will bring you tons of attention. Such a rare and pretty little peignoir!
CONDITION - Very good: There is a small hole right at the hem about the size of a pencil eraser, and can quickly and easily be mended with a few stitches. A tiny reddish patina mark on the right sleeve, difficult to see, in fact I hadn't noticed it until the sun was shining on it while photographing the robe. There is one tiny pinhole on the back and 2 repairs made at the waist seam that are nearly invisible. The inside has 2 water marks and one dark splotch (very small), neither show through to the outside. Priced accordingly, see last photo.
