Vintage 1930's Kimono Robe | Ivory Silk Jacquard with Fuchsia Silk Taffeta & Tassel Sash Belt | Size Free
Availability:
This very lovely 1930s Japanese kimono robe is a very special relic of the era. Resembling a traditional Uchikake, which is an elaborate formal kimono often worn for weddings, with its beautiful floral jacquard silk, padded hem, and remarkable 38.5" kimono sleeves. These very special sleeves are completely open, allowing a very dramatic aesthetic with the bright fuchsia pink silk taffeta lining flashing with every movement. This kimono has hand painted blue flowers scattered on the bodice and sleeves, and a wide matching sash tie that has crocheted tassels at the ends for added flair.
CONDITION - Very good: There are several small age spots against the very light silk, which I have not treated. I found 3 spots where the jacquard has unwoven, and one hole about the size of a pencil eraser on one of the sleeves, that does not go through to the lining. On the back left near the shoulder there is what looks like a small slit that someone had attempted to gently mend, that does not go all the way through the fabric. The pink lining is in immaculate, near pristine condition.
