This late 1930s Japanese kimono robe is dripping with beauty. Made of deep, blood red silk, offering a beautiful drape with a slightly padded hem and long kimono sleeves. Double lined and closes with an accompanying red sash tie. Elaborate gold threaded embroidery adorns its entirety, with floral sprigs on the front and sleeves, and an enormous textured floral design embroidered over the back, with birds swooping at the bottom above the hem. This rare hand sewn bit of fashion history is an excellent collector piece that can absolutely be worn, displayed, and adored for years to come.
CONDITION - Very good to excellent: The silk has thinned in some areas due to age, no holes going completely through the piece. One pinhole on the inner lining near the top of the shoulder, lining is in otherwise excellent shape. Some very slight pulling at the embroidery in a few areas. Slight discoloration in a few areas due to age, primarily at the points of the sash where they have darkened. Hardly noticeable.
