A stunning peignoir and nightgown set from the 50s, by lady designer Odette Barsa! Incredibly lush, made of sheer chiffon with a nylon lining. The set has a beautifully painted dove gray floral pattern traced in Alençon embroidery, giving a lovely texture to the set. The robe has a Peter Pan collar and is completely open, with a long tie at the neck for closure. Princess puff sleeves with elastic above the fluttery hemmed cuff, falling right above the elbow. This peignoir is unlike any I have seen, with a stunning cutout design up the spine with the most elaborate detail. The nightgown features a very flattering wide boat neck completely adorned in embroidery and gray decor. A gathered bust and fitted waist, with elastic in the back and sewn in ribbon ties for an always perfect fit. A wide, fluffy skirt extends below the knee with a lovely scalloped hem. This set is a pinup dream, and gives the most remarkable silhouette with a huge sweep. Absolutely breathtaking!
CONDITION - Very good: There is slight discoloration at the upper bodice of the peignoir due to age, giving a slight ombre in certain lighting. Two tiny rust colored spots along the edge of the opening on the embroidery, very hard to notice. The most prominent flaw is right at the hem in the back, where there is a pale mint green paint stain on the inside layer. It barely shows through, but does if studying closely. I didn't even notice it until taking measurements. I am not sure what kind of paint it is or if it can be removed, I have not treated the stain. There are 3 pin holes in the outer chiffon layer of the skirt on the nightgown. See second to last photo for flaws. Priced accordingly.
